Wow, Cthonic. The sound of cultural and aesthetic confusion. Jpop idol stances with trendified corpsepaint and loose sexy shirts, throwing limp invisible oranges at the camera at their award show. Dimmu Borgir with an erhu. blastbeat casio.

Their political statement is made redundand due to sheer confusion.

"Black metal, a category of rock n' roll that originated in North European countries like Norway"

The specific kind of Black Metal he's reffering to (national romantic and such) has as much to do with rock n' roll as elvis has to do with Steve Reich. Confusion.

Anyway, nobody expects most metal bands to have a great sense of political continuity, and at least they're saying *something* in their interview instead of what brand of strings they're using or their opinion on the Eurovision contest.

I agree with your assessments. I find the semiotic soup rather fascinating. Marty Friedman, too, is an East-West alloy, but coming from the other direction. I still don't know what to make of that, though...

I gave this one a positive review for L4M, mostly for the technical aspects of the album. However, this is basically a knock-off of Meshuggah and so forth.
